6th Annual Bunny on a Bike Ride

6th Annual Bunny on a Bike Ride

Carye Bunny-tail Bye.

In a lucky non-rainy patch of sky, we pedaled as bunnies on bikes once again. Bunnies converged from all over Portland by the Vera Katz Statue on the East Esplanade by Hawthorne Bridge. This Bunny started with team North at Peninsula Park after Bunny Bowling three games at Interstate Lanes (all games scoring over 100). At the Waterfront all the N, NE, SE, SW, NW and even Washingtonian bunnies greeted each other for one big parade. Even Vera had bunny ears on! Then North through Lloyd District we rode to a secret park location. As the first year NOT as organizer, this Bunny couldn’t wait to be surprised just like everyone else on where the ride would end up. She was so giddy she could barely stand it, a smile wide across her face. But then, the secret location turned out to be the Irving Park covered court, the exact same location the bunny ride converged to last year. The Bunny Ride has always been new and different each year, and she knew she told the new organizer this. But this Bunny was no longer in charge, and now was grumpy, and wasn’t in the mood to potluck or look for eggs. So she pedaled over to Two Plums Park a few blocks away, tucked away into a tree, painted pictures and was instantly much happier. A few bunny friends followed after the potluck and the bunny crew climbed trees, swung on the swings, blew bubbles, and slid down the slide. Then a post bunny drinking fest ensued all afternoon inside the Bye & Bye, safe from the pissing rain. At last it was time to go too, Bunny Karaoke? Well, unfortunately these bunnies couldn’t find any that didn’t start past the Bunnies bedtime.
